Same agent as Klich: Leeds and Orta now working on deal for rapid 21 y/o at peak of his powers

Leeds United chief Victor Orta is looking at a summer swoop for Anderlecht defender Sergio Gomez, TEAMtalk report.

Gomez, who actually shares the same agent as Whites midfielder Mateusz Klich, is 21 years of age and can play as a left-back, left-midfielder or left-winger.

The Spaniard only made the move to Belgium last summer and has impressed in his first season, contributing to a whopping 20 goals in 41 appearances, mostly from defence.

The rapid Anderlecht man has previously been on the books of Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund and appears to be at the peak of his powers with a career-high £8.1m Transfermarkt valuation.

TEAMtalk shared a story on Wednesday afternoon, claiming Gomez is a player of interest to Orta.

Leeds aren’t the only club interested in a summer deal, though, with Ajax, Atalanta, Lyon and Real Madrid all name-checked in the report.

Jesse Marsch is currently short of left-back options with Junior Firpo sidelined through injury, leaving Stuart Dallas needing to fill in for the Spaniard in back-to-back wins against Norwich and Wolves.

Therefore, bringing in Gomez, who can also play further forward, could be a shrewd piece of business by Orta and co ahead of Marsch’s first full season in charge.

You’d expect that Leeds would need to guarantee their Premier League status to have any chance of a deal, and it looks as if it could be in their financial range considering Gomez’s £8.1m valuation.
