Sadio Mane's message to Mohamed Salah after AFCON final was pure class

Sadio Mane guided his country to Africa Cup of Nations glory for the very first time last Sunday evening.

In a tense final against Mohamed Salah‘s Egypt, Senegal eventually prevailed on penalties, Mane scoring the match-winning spot kick after missing from 12 yards in the first half of proceedings.

It was a moment the Liverpool star, his teammates and Senegal fans will never, ever forget.

For Salah and Egypt, it was nothing but heartbreak and the winger was in tears on the pitch after Mane’s brilliant pressure penalty.

Senegal’s talisman – who was also rightly named the Player of the Tournament last Sunday evening – went over to comfort his colleague at one point and what he said was pure class.

When asked to reveal his message to Salah, Mane told beIN Sports: “I told him that he remains a very great player and it’s a pleasure to play for the same club. I have so much respect for him and he gave everything for his country.

“Unfortunately, he didn’t win, but that doesn’t mean it’s over for him. I also told him that he still has many things to win, including the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. They have a young team so maybe they will win it one day.”

Mane really is an absolute legend, isn’t he? It’s also more proof that Salah and Mane have a very good relationship, despite the fact they’ve clashed a few times while playing together for Liverpool.

The two attackers will be linking up again at Anfield in due course, with Salah reportedly eyeing up a return to Jurgen Klopp’s team for their Premier League
