Sadio Mane asked Minamino to not spray champagne during celebrations - so he put bottle down

Sadio Mane won his second trophy in as many months as Liverpool won the Carabao Cup final on Sunday evening.

The Senegalese forward was inspirational as he led his country to the Africa Cup of Nations title in January.

Mane scored the winning penalty in the shootout as Senegal beat Egypt in the final.

And he also played his part as Liverpool beat Chelsea to win the Carabao Cup final at Wembley.

Mane started the game and was substituted off late in the second half. The Reds went on to win the game on penalties.

Mane was a peripheral figure during Liverpool’s celebrations. A video has emerged of Mane standing on the outskirts as Liverpool readied to lift the trophy on the pitch.

Takumi Minamino picked up a bottle of champagne with the intention of spraying it but, after Mane had words with him, he then put it on the floor.

Mane is a devout Muslim. Mane has vowed not to drink or even touch alcohol due to his religious beliefs.

Speaking in 2016, Mane told the Daily Mail: “I won’t touch alcohol. Religion is very important to me. I respect the rules of Islam and I pray five times a day, always.”
