SA teenage cricket sensation Dewald Brevis sold for R6m in IPL auction
South African teenage cricket sensation Dewald Brevis was sold to the Mumbai Indians for 3 crore (R6 million) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction on Saturday.
Brevis, who has been dubbed 'Baby AB' in reference to AB de Villiers, was a star performer for the SA under-19 team in the recently completed World Cup in the West Indies.
He scored 506 runs to be the leading run-scorer in the tournament's history.
Brevis, who currently plays for the Titans in the CSA T20 Challenge, will now head to India later this year to represent the five-time IPL champions.

Earlier on Saturday, Proteas paceman Kagiso Rabada secured a move from the Delhi Capitals to the Punjab Kings for a whopping 9.25 crore (R18.6 million).
Former Proteas Test captains Faf du Plessis and Quinton de Kock found new homes at the Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Lucknow Super Giants respectively for 7 crore (R14.1 million) and 6.75 crore (R13.6 million) each.
Middle-order blaster David Miller, who made a quick-fire half-century for the Dolphins in their T20 game against the Warriors in Gqeberha on Saturday, went unsold.
Leg-spinner Imran Tahir also went unsold.
