Ryan Lowe confirms right wing-back transfer blow for Preston North End

Preston North End manager Ryan Lowe says the search for a right wing-back is still on after seemingly losing out on one transfer target.

The Lilywhites have been aiming to provide competition for Brad Potts all summer long, with six other signings made in different positions within the squad. Lowe has strengthened his left side with the acquisitions of Robbie Brady and Alvaro Fernandez, but is yet to bolster his options on the opposite side.

Potts has remained the regular this season, with the number 44 scoring PNE's only goal of the league campaign so far. In a long, grueling Championship season though, Lowe knows he needs strength in depth.

"There are always setbacks in anything you do, but ultimately it's out of our hands because we can only give what we have got available," Lowe told . "If someone wants more, whether it is an agent or club, we can't just pick money from somewhere when it is not there.

"We have to be creative with it and that's all we have been. We felt we were down the line with one, but it wasn't to be and money has probably stopped us from getting a couple of players - in terms of what we've got there to use. But, again, it is what it is and you have to keep moving on, just doing the right things. Once we find one that suits, and everything fits the bill, then we will do it.

"We've got cover out there and Pottsy has been fantastic (in the last few games). Ali has played out there and Browney's played out there at international level as well as for us. But Pottsy has been outstanding. I do want someone to push him, because I feel that if we can push him that little bit more, we'll get more out of him.
