Ryan Hampshire secures Super League return after joining club on trial

Ryan Hampshire is set for a return to Super League after linking up with Castleford Tigers on trial.

Rugby League Live understands the fullback linked up with the Tigers on Monday and is set to join the club on an initial one-month trial.

He will be free to play during the trial period, a boost to Lee Radford as they look to build following a difficult start to the season.

The Tigers have won just one of their opening five games and face a crucial period in their season.

The Tigers have lost Danny Richardson to a fractured neck while Niall Evalds has recently been struggling with a hamstring injury, which has forced him to miss the last two games.

But they'll be boosted by Hampshire, who has been a free agent since leaving Wakefield Trinity at the end of last season.

Capable of playing a variety of positions, Hampshire has played for a number of clubs during his career, including Wigan, Leigh and the Tigers.

Now 27, Hampshire told Rugby League Live last year that he was relaxed about his future and would wait for the right opportunity to arise.

That opportunity has now presented itself at the Jungle, where Hampshire spent the 2016 season.
