Ryan Giggs' barrister claims ex-girlfriend 'knew full well' that 'blackmail' video was not sex tape, court hears

Ryan Giggs' barrister claimed the Manchester United star's ex-girlfriend 'knew full well' that an email titled 'blackmail' which featured a video was not a sex tape. Kate Greville said she never looked at the video and immediately deleted it, claiming she feared it was an intimate video which the couple had filmed.

Mr Giggs' barrister played a video which he claimed was actually the 'blackmail' clip, which depicted Ms Greville and others dancing while wearing Santa hats at a work event. "You knew full well it wasn't a sexual video, didn't you?"," Chris Daw QC asked.

"How?", Ms Greville replied. Mr Daw said: "Because you watched it."

Ms Greville denied watching the video, and claimed she presumed it was a sexual video as Mr Giggs had recently sent her an intimate image of himself. Ms Greville spent a second day giving evidence at Manchester Crown Court, where her former partner Ryan Giggs, 48, denies behaving in a controlling and coercive manner to her.

He has also pleaded not guilty to assaulting her and her sister Emma during an alleged altercation at his home in Swinton, Salford. She was questioned about a statement she made to police referencing an email Mr Giggs had sent her, titled 'blackmail' with a video attachment.

She claimed Mr Giggs had threatened to send it to a work WhatsApp group if she did not unblock him. Ms Greville told the jury that she deleted it and couldn't find the attachment later. Jurors heard she sent the police a picture of her computer screen, and not the email itself.
