Ruck and Roll: Lansdowne FC let loose in the Aviva!

In the epic grand finale of Ruck and Roll with Seán and MC all roads lead to the iconic Aviva Stadium.

We meet young players from Lansdowne FC - they can see the stadium from their home pitch. We look back on the tournament with the young players, and we look forward to the new year when Ireland are back on home turf for the 6 Nations!

About the club

Lansdowne are a rugby club, but their full name is Lansdowne Footbal Club instead of Rugby Football Club. That's because it was founded by was founded in 1872 by Henry Dunlop, a noted athlete of his time. That's even before the IRFU, so that explains the name!

The Club caters for players at all levels, and currently fields five senior teams, as well as a successful Under 20's side (they have won three All Ireland Club titles and are the current holders of the Leinster League).

Mini and Youth Rugby also flourishes in the Club, with teams from Uder 6/7/8’s up to Under 18’s. The club recently introduced a girls’ section, with all under-age action taking place on Sunday mornings from September through to April. Come on down if you want to give it a go!

The club has too many famous players to name here! There have been over 100 players from Lansdowne that lined out for Ireland over the years.

In recent years you had stars like Devin Toner, Shane Horgan and Gordon D'arcy. And they even had three players lining out at Rugby World Cup 2023 - Dan Sheehan, Tadhg Beirne and Ronan Kelleher.
