Ruben Neves slams Arsenal for 'celebrating like they won the league'

Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves has taken a swipe at Arsenal for 'celebrating like they won the league' following their 1-0 victory at the Molineux Stadium on Thursday evening. 

Mikel Arteta's side were forced to play the final 20 minutes of the game with 10 men after Gabriel Martinelli was sent off for two bookable offences within five seconds of each other.  

Arsenal were delighted to have hung on for all three points and celebrated accordingly. However, Neves felt their reaction to the result was over the top - claiming he hadn't seen anything like it in the 'last 10 years'. 

Speaking to BBC Sport, Neves said: 'We did well but we are struggling to score goals and conceding a lot on set-pieces. 

'With their goal there is some doubt about whether it was a foul or not but that's football. We are used to these decisions.

'We need to improve a lot on scoring goals because we are creating chances but we're not good enough in that part of the game.

'I can accept the decision about their goal but in some games they give it and in some games they don't. They need to do the same decisions in every game because it's frustrating for us.

'We saw the way they celebrated the win and that shows the level we are. I didn't see Arsenal celebrating like this in the past 10 years - it was like they won the league.'

Wolves boss Bruno Lage also vented his frustration, saying his side were unlucky to walk away without any points as they were the 'better' team.    

He said: 'It's hard when you don't get points and goals from this game. They did everything I asked - they created chances, we had plenty of chances to score. 

'It's not new, especially at home, to have nights like this one - to keep playing, not score and they scored.
