Ruben Dias recognised in Portugal for outstanding Man City form

Ruben Dias has been recognised in Portugal for his contribution towards Manchester City's successful season.

Dias found himself out of Pep Guardiola's side more than he would like before the World Cup and then suffered a hamstring injury in Qatar to further frustrate him, but has roared back to his best to command the Blues to a third straight Premier League title. Not only has the centre-back won the league every year he has been at City, but he has also helped the club to tee up a potential Treble with FA Cup and Champions League finals to come.

City had eight games in those three competitions in April and Dias started seven of them, including both legs of the Champions League quarter-final with Bayern Munich and crunch Premier League wins over Liverpool and Arsenal. Guardiola's team won seven and drew one, with an aggregate score of 25-6, to take control of their destiny.

That form has seen Dias awarded the Talent that Marks the World award, a prize handed out by the Liga Portugal ambassadors to celebrate the success of their players around the globe. The 26-year-old follows City teammate Joao Cancelo in winning the award.

Reflecting on the acclaim, Dias said: "I would like to thank Liga Portugal for the 'Talent that Marks the World' award. I am very happy for this recognition and to feel the attention of the people in Portugal.

"I am greatly pleased and, without a doubt, it will serve as motivation for what is yet to come. Thank you all very much."
