Ruben Dias picks Scott Carson in Man City five-a-side team and excludes Ederson and De Bruyne

Ruben Dias hailed Scott Carson as the 'champion of five-a-side' in Manchester City training as he picked a perfect Blues team from the current squad.

Dias has been an ever-present since joining City in 2020, while Ederson has been first choice for a number of years now, proving crucial to how the team plays out from the back.

Ederson's ability with the ball at his feet and his pinpoint passing under pressure has seen him hailed as one of the best goalkeepers in the world, with an enviable Premier League record.

However, although Ederson's ability should be ideal for a five-a-side goalkeeper, defender Dias opted for a surprise pick in goal as he was asked by the National to complete a team of five made up from the City squad.

Dias had to name himself in the team, and had to name a goalkeeper, and while he said Ederson was 'in his heart', he opted for City's third choice stopper Carson, who has made just one appearance for the club.

“Eddy is in my heart, but I will go with Scott Carson,” Dias said. “He is a champion of the five-a-sides. Whenever you are on his team, you win, so I will take him.”

Alongside Dias and Carson, the centre-back chose Joao Cancelo and hailed his ability with both feet and finishing qualities.

He said: “I need to get my fellow [compatriot] Cancelo, because anything can happen with that right and left foot. He is very good to have on a short game. He can score from everywhere.”

Bernardo Silva, another Portuguese was next, as Dias explained: “Bernardo is a good man to have in five-a-side. He is very versatile. Normally when I am with him in the little games, we win. So it is a good combo.”
