Roy Keane risks more embarrassment with Trent Alexander-Arnold remark after Erling Haaland saga

Roy Keane might end up with egg on his face following his recent critical analysis of Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The outspoken former Manchester United captain is well-known for his incisive commentary and does not shy away from challenging players he views as substandard. His latest critique was directed at Liverpool's Alexander-Arnold after what Keane observed as a lacklustre first half against the Red Devils in the Premier League.

While on air with Sky Sports during the meeting at Anfield on January 5, Keane did not mince his words. He said: "Trent Alexander-Arnold has been all over the place defensively. His defending has been schoolboy stuff. He's got to do better.

"They're talking about him going to Real Madrid. The way he's defending he's going to Tranmere Rovers after this." Again emphasising his point, Keane added: "He's got to do better."

Lisandro Martinez scored first for United, followed by a leveller from Cody Gakpo on January 5. Mohamed Salah took Liverpool ahead after dispatching a penalty on 70 minutes, only for Amad to grab a draw for United with a goal 10 minutes before full-time.

With Alexander-Arnold's contract expiring in July, there has been speculation about a potential transfer to Real Madrid. Speculation over a possible move for the 26-year-old gained traction when Real Madrid's first-choice right-back Dani Carvajal was side-lined with a season-ending ACL injury in October.

Nonetheless, Alexander-Arnold looks set to stay put at Liverpool until the end of his contract. It comes after similar criticism made about Erling Haaland by Keane last March. Keane took aim at the striker after he failed to score in a goalless draw with Arsenal at the Etihad.
