Roy Keane does Erling Haaland U-turn after Man City star 'frustrated' in Nottingham Forest win

Roy Keane joked Erling Haaland was like a Championship-level player during Manchester City's 2-0 win at Nottingham Forest, having previously labelled the Norwegian a 'League Two' striker.

Haaland was on target for the reigning champions at the City Ground as Pep Guardiola's side kept pace with Arsenal in the Premier League title race on Sunday afternoon.

The 23-year-old forward had started the game on the bench for City, though was deployed during the second half as the Blues sought a decisive second goal. Haaland took only nine minutes to find the back of the net after being introduced, finding the bottom left corner after being played through by Kevin De Bruyne.

Admitting the former Borussia Dortmund star is "not a bad option" to bring on from off the bench, Keane jokes to Sky Sports: "He was very much like a Championship player.

"He's improved a lot. In terms of goalscoring, he's absolutely amazing. He took three or four touches there and the defender is on the backfoot.

"There is no doubting his quality. You're looking at players coming off the bench, he'd be frustrated and when he's coming on he wants to have an impact on the game. When the game is stretched like that and you've got people like De Bruyne, he's going to find you."

Keane's comments come after the ex-Manchester United midfielder likened Haaland to a player plying his trade in the fourth tier after City's goalless draw with Arsenal at the start of the month.
