Rory McIlroy, Shane Lowry and Padraig Harrington's tee times for US PGA Championship opening round confirmed

Rory McIlroy will tee off his latest bid for a first major since 2014 from the 10th tee at 1.15pm Irish time on Thursday, while Shane Lowry and Padraig Harrington are both among the late starters for the opening round at the 106th US PGA Championship at Valhalla.

McIlroy is grouped alongside fellow major winners Dustin Johnson and Justin Rose, with Tiger Woods in the preceding group with Adam Scott and Keegan Bradley.

Lowry is paired with Jason Day and Nicolai Højgaard, with that trio starting from the first tee at 6.18pm Irish time.

Like Lowry, Harrington is also among the late starters at the first tee with the three-time major winner grouped with Patrick Reed and Sam Burns for a 7.35pm start.

Meanwhile, club professional Michael Block will hit the opening tee shot of the tournament.

Block dominated the headlines at Oak Hill last year after becoming an unlikely contender for the title and then, while playing alongside McIlroy, making a hole-in-one in the final round on his way to a tie for 15th.

That secured a return to Valhalla, where he made his US PGA debut in 2014, and the 47-year-old will get play under way at 12.15pm Irish time on Thursday alongside Europe's Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald and 2003 winner Shaun Micheel.

Defending champion Brooks Koepka will also be among the early starters alongside Max Homa and Jordan Spieth, while Masters champion Scottie Scheffler will have to wait until mid-afternoon to start his bid for back-to-back major titles and a fifth win in his last six starts.

Scheffler, whose wife Meredith gave birth to their first child last week, will play the first two rounds alongside US Open champion Wyndham Clark and Open champion Brian Harman.
