David de Gea made two crucial saves, with strikes from Adam Lallana and Emre Can causing problems for the Spaniard.
In the same season Liverpool beat United in the Europa League round of 16 over two legs, however United finished two places above the Merseyside club in the Premier League, as they sat in fifth spot.
Before this game United fans would have been fairly confident they could win at Anfield thanks to what happened in the previous season in 2014/15.
United fans will remember what happened at ‘Juanfield’, when Juan Mata scored two goals to give the away team a 2-1 win, but that was not he most significant event that happened in that game.
