Ronda Rousey opens up on WrestleMania 35 ending

Ronda Rousey has opened up about the infamous ending to her WrestleMania 35 main event, where she appeared to mess up the final pinfall. 

The Baddest Women on the Planet made her WWE debut at Royal Rumble 2018 and would go on to dominate the women’s division for the next year. She made her in-ring bow at WrestleMania 34, teaming with Kurt Angle to defeat Triple H and Stephanie McMahon and by SummerSlam was Raw Women’s Champion. 

That championship win over Alexa Bliss would set her on course for a WrestleMania main event slot. Pitting Rousey against the unstoppable force that had become Becky Lynch and later Charlotte Flair, in a triple-threat match where both the Raw and SmackDown titles were on the line. 

It became the first female match to main event WrestleMania, and it was Lynch who made history by getting the win and becoming ‘Becky Two Belts’. However, the match wasn’t without controversy, especially around the pinfall that gave Becky the victory.

With Becky set to get the three-count, both of Rousey’s shoulders did not appear to be fully down for the pinfall, something that was commented on at the time by the announce team. 

Speaking on a recent episode of The Kurt Angle Show, Rousey addressed the moment and provided some clarity on what has been labelled as a ‘botch’ by some fans. 

I didn’t think my shoulder was down, I was trying to flatten out to put my shoulder more down. So like that’s what was happening. I thought it was just the very tops of my shoulder. So I was trying to shimmy down, so the actual backs of my shoulders were down and I didn’t know that he had already started counting.
