Ronda Rousey fined and suspended by WWE following actions at SummerSlam

Ronda Rousey has been fined and suspended by WWE as a result of her actions at SummerSlam on Saturday night.

At SummerSlam, Ronda Rousey was unsuccessful in her attempts to wrestle the SmackDown Women’s Championship away from Liv Morgan.

It was actually Rousey that dropped the title to Morgan at Money in the Bank on July 2, with WWE booking the pair in a rematch four weeks later.

Morgan won the match, pinning Rousey, but the former UFC star can actually claim to have won the match before that.

Liv was seen tapping out in a Rousey armbar before the referee had counted to three, and while the official didn’t see it, Ronda technically should have won.

After the match, Rousey seemingly turned heel, attacking Morgan once again, before turning her attention to the aforementioned referee.

As a result of her actions, WWE has announced that the former Raw and SmackDown Women’s Champion has been suspended and fined.

The announcement was made on social media earlier on today, later being confirmed by WWE Official Adam Pearce.

It is official. https://t.co/fiZiPDWen6

The statement that WWE released, which you can see above, didn’t reveal how much Ronda has been fined, or how long she’s been suspended for.

In case it wasn’t clear, the suspension and fine are 100% part of WWE’s storyline at the moment, and Ronda isn’t actually in any trouble with the company.

Many fans speculate that Ronda, despite being suspended, will actually still be on Friday Night SmackDown later on this week, or even potentially Monday Night Raw tonight.

The working theory is that WWE is going to put on Liv Morgan v Ronda Rousey III at Clash at the Castle next month, although that’s far from confirmed at this stage.
