Ronaldo, Son and Foden lead the attack: Premier League team of the week

The intensity at both ends of the Premier League table increased last week after the latest round of fixtures, with the race for the title, top four, and relegation places all set to go down to the wire.

Liverpool laid down the first marker by edging Newcastle United 1-0 at St James' Park in the first match of the weekend on Saturday, before Manchester City swiftly reclaimed top spot by thrashing Leeds United 4-0 at Elland Road.

In between, Aston Villa returned to winning ways by beating Norwich City 2-0, confirming the bottom side's relegation in the process, while Burnley continued their impressive resurgence under Mike Jackson with a late 2-1 win at Watford, who look set to join Norwich in the Championship next season. Elsewhere, Brighton cruised past Wolves 3-0 at Molineux and Crystal Palace beat Southampton 2-1 at St Mary's.

On Sunday, Everton boosted their own survival hopes by stunning Chelsea 1-0 at Goodison Park. Wins for Tottenham and Arsenal - 3-1 over Leicester City and 2-1 at West Ham respectively - means the battle for third and fourth spot remain wide open between the three London rivals.

Manchester United then completed the week with a comfortable 3-0 win over Brentford at Old Trafford on Monday night.
