Romelu Lukaku's first interview since his Inter return hasn't gone down well with everyone

Romelu Lukaku has wrapped up a loan move back to Inter Milan.

Despite having completed a transfer to Chelsea to the tune of £97.5 million just 12 months ago, the Belgian striker has backed his chat and followed his heart by reuniting with the Serie A giants.

Ever since his controversial interview with Sky Italia in December, there has been a quiet feeling that Lukaku would angle for a reunion with Inter having enjoyed such a lucrative two-year spell on their books.

However, that doesn’t make it any less jarring that Chelsea have shipped out their club-record signing, who – lest we forget – was their top scorer in all competitions last season, just one year on.

But considering all the ill feeling towards Lukaku from Blues fans since he publicly flirted with Inter, the situation is arguably made all the more remarkable by the fact that so few supporters are sad to see him go.

There’s also good reason to think that Thomas Tuchel won’t be losing too much sleep about the transaction given that he used the 29-year-old so sparingly during the second-half of the season.

And in the eyes of some supporters, the relationship between Lukaku and Chelsea will only have grown more distant as a result of his first interview since reuniting with the Nerazzurri.

Now, truth be told, Lukaku would probably have caught flack for saying just about anything during his chat with Inter’s official channels and he shouldn’t be chastised for generally expressing his love for the club.

Nevertheless, you can understand why certain comments from Lukaku might have irked Chelsea fans who feel as though the player’s heart has always been with Inter, leading to open criticism on social media.
