Rodri urges Man City to take advantage of what Arsenal are missing

Rodri wants Manchester City to bring their champion mentality to the Emirates in what could end up being a season-deciding match.

Pep Guardiola's side travel to London on Wednesday to face Arsenal, who have topped the table for most of the season and still boast a three-point lead at the summit. The City manager has been thoroughly impressed with the hunger and desire shown through the Gunners squad this season as he has tried to find the same qualities in his group.

City have been inconsistent in results and performance since the World Cup but are buoyed by their recent 3-1 win over Aston Villa that saw a much more fluid display. That three points gives them the springboard to go top if they win at Arsenal.

Rodri is not looking too much at the league table with so long in the season to go, yet is hoping that City can use all of their experience in winning league titles that Arsenal (apart from Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko) do not have. The midfielder was the matchwinner in this fixture last season with a last-minute goal and expects the same mentality this week.

“If I’m honest, we don’t think about these things, we don’t think if we are favourites or not despite what we have done. There are still 16 games, it’s a lot," he said.

"We have the chance to go and be on top of the table. I hope we can show the best performance of the team against the best opponents right now in the Premier League, they have showed until now.

"I think we have to show our personality, our champion personality, from this moment until we go to the Emirates, show we can fight against them and we can put on a good game.”
