'Rocket Man' Stravino Jacobs extends Bulls contract

Bulls speedster Stravino Jacobs has penned a contract extension with the Pretoria-based franchise until 2027.

Jacobs has played 35 times for the Bulls and has an impressive strike with 24 tries, although his season was cut short this year due to injury. 

Jacobs said the decision to extend his stay was an easy one following the support he received during his recent injury. 

"Extending my stay was one of the easiest things to do because I know where we are as a team and where we want to be, and I am confident that we are going places because we all share the same desire and hunger for success," Jacobs said.

"The Bulls have been incredible support pillars for me, especially during this downtime while I am recovering from injury. I have adjusted comfortably, and now I can confidently call Loftus home, and it is the place I would like to call home for the next few seasons too.

"The love and support of the fans have been immense for me, my confidence and my career, and I want to continue to enjoy that privilege whenever I run out with the daisy on my chest."

Edgar Rathbone, CEO of the Blue Bulls company, emphasised the importance of retaining top talent as the franchise.

"We have seen the demands of playing in the United Rugby Championship and the Champions Cup, and they require one to have a great depth of top talent in order to have a good chance at competing for silverware. We are fortunate to already have some of the best players on our roster, and retaining them is just as critical as acquiring them," said Rathbone.
