Robin van Persie: Video shows Man Utd star's finishing was sublime

Robin van Persie will inevitably go down as one of the Premier League’s greatest strikers.

The Flying Dutchman spent a decade ripping holes in the back of Premier League nets, racking up 280 appearances and scoring 144 goals across his time with Arsenal and Man United.

Of course, if you happen to be an Arsenal fan then you may have conflicting feelings about the man given the circumstances in which he left, but there can be no denying his future Hall of Famer pedigree.

Van Persie signed for Arsenal back in 2004 and quickly became a loved figure amongst the fanbase, so much so that he was even granted the captaincy in the 2011/2012 season.

Little did the club hierarchy know, though, that their new captain would shortly have his head turned by one of the Gunners’ most bitter rivals – Manchester United.

Van Persie waited until July to announce that he would not be signing a new contract at the club, before swapping London for Manchester in a deal worth a mere £24 million.

Arsenal fans were incandescent – selling their club captain, who had happened to have won the Premier League Golden Boot for such a small fee – it was viewed to be a betrayal.

And most have never forgiven RVP since.

To make matter worse, the Dutchman enjoyed an immaculate first season at Old Trafford, winning both the Premier League and the Golden Boot, the latter of which for a second successive season.

Needless to say, United fans loved him and haven’t forgotten him to this day.

As demonstrated by this compilation video of RVP’s greatest moments in a United shirt which has recently gone viral on Twitter.
