Robert Lewandowski responds to Chelsea transfer interest amid PSG, Barcelona rumours

Robert Lewandowski has reportedly turned down an offer from Chelsea this summer with the striker’s heart set on a move to Barcelona.

The 33-year-old is set to leave Germany heavyweights Bayern Munich this summer after failing to agree on a new deal with the Bavarians with just 12 months left on his current contract. Lewandowski has scored 344 goals in 373 games for Bayern since his arrival from Borussia Dortmund in 2014, winning eight consecutive Bundesliga titles as well as the Champions League in 2020.

The Polish international declared his intention to leave Bayern earlier this year, immediately putting Chelsea and Paris Saint-German on alert despite claims the striker was eyeing up a move to Barca. Chelsea are currently negotiating a deal that will see Romelu Lukaku return to Inter on loan this summer, with Lewandowski reportedly earmarked by Thomas Tuchel as the Belgian’s ideal replacement.

Lukaku endured a difficult first season back in the Premier League despite finishing the campaign as the Blues’ top scorer with 15 goals. A mid-season interview with Sky Sports Italia where he said he hoped to return to Inter didn’t go down with Chelsea fans and he now looks set to be leaving the club on loan - a remarkable fall from grace following his club-record £97.5million arrival last summer.

But it seems that, if Lukaku gets his move away, it won’t be Lewandowski filling his spot in Chelsea’s attack after SPORT reported that the wantaway Bayern forward has turned down approaches from both the Blues and PSG amid a preference to sign for Barca.
