Rob Herring agrees contract extension at Ulster

Ulster's Rob Herring has agreed a contract extension to keep him at the province for a further 12 months.

The hooker, who has played a record 241 games for Ulster, has signed on at Kingspan Stadium until the summer of 2026.

"I'm delighted to sign with the club for another year. Belfast feels like home to me now and it’s always an honour to wear the jersey," Herring said.

"I’m enjoying my role as one of the experienced players in an exciting young squad. I look forward to competing on the pitch but also helping the next generation come through.

"There’s a lot of excitement around the squad at the moment and hopefully plenty more special days ahead."

Born in Cape Town, Herring is Irish-qualified through has grandparents and joined Ulster in 2012 before making his Ireland debut against Argentina in June 2014, and has gone on to win 42 caps, the most recent of which came in last Friday's 22-19 win against the same opposition.

The 34-year-old is the second player to commit a new deal with the province this week, with versatile back Stewart Moore also signing a contract extension on Monday.

Moore, who featured for Emerging Ireland in 2022, has signed a two-year deal which will run until the summer of 2027.
