Road cordoned off as woman rushed to hospital with serious injuries

A woman was rushed to hospital following a 'concern for welfare' report in Salford.

Police raced to the scene of the incident on Worsley Road in Eccles earlier this morning. Officers responded to the incident, which was reportedly close to a row of shops and takeaways near the junction with New Lane, at around 8am.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said they received a 'concern for welfare report'. The woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Eyewitnesses said a cordon was put in place across Worsley Road as emergency crews responded. A stretch of the road was closed off to traffic.

In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "Officers were called to Worsley Road in Eccles at around 8am to a concern for welfare report. One woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries."
