Rio Ferdinand makes bold Arsenal and West Ham Champions League claim after Newcastle draw

Rio Ferdinand has made his weekly top-four prediction and once again he has made a U-turn when it comes to West Ham's chances of qualifying for the Champions League.

The Hammers have dropped points from winning positions in the past two weeks and with their top-four rivals all picking up wins this weekend David Moyes' side face a tough battle between now and the end of the season.

Once again defensive errors of their own making cost West ham, with Declan Rice uncharacteristically at fault against Newcastle following on from mistakes by Aaron Cresswell and Vladimir Coufal at the King Power Stadium.

The trio are usually the most trusted of lieutenants for Moyes and will no doubt put their mistakes behind them and come back all guns blazing soon enough.

Following the weekend's results former Hammer Ferdinand believes the pressure to perform weekly could be what costs West Ham in the end.

"All the teams going for fourth, bar West Ham, got positive results so it’s like right, that position is, you’ve got to perform now,"he said on Vibe With FIVE.

"Spurs won a game we didn’t expect them to win, then Arsenal obviously won and United won. I think it’s going to be out of them three to finish fourth."

Despite West Ham's dropped points, Ferdinand made a bold prediction for the Hammers.

"I think West Ham will put up a fight but probably will go a bit short just because of the depth in their squad. They’ll finish above Arsenal," he added.

Currently, West Ham are level with Arsenal on 42 points and sit above the Gunners having a goal difference just one better than their rivals. However, Mikel Arteta's side have three games in hand on the Hammers making it a tall order for Moyes' team to cling onto a spot above the North London
