Rio Ferdinand and Roy Keane agree over main Harry Maguire concern for Manchester United

Rio Ferdinand has revived previous concerns from Roy Keane about Harry Maguire during his damning verdict on the struggling Manchester United captain.

Fit-again Paul Pogba gave United an early lead on their visit to Turf Moor last night.

Sandwiched between two further goals that were chalked off for United - one for an apparent block from Maguire as he stood in an offside position - there were enough promising signs for Ralf Rangnick and his side as they headed into the half-time interval against Burnley.

However, the rock-bottom Clarets hit back to earn a share of the spoils through Jay Rodriguez.

His equaliser came after Maguire had been turned inside out by January signing Wout Weghorst.

Naturally, the United centre-back did his best to retrieve the situation, but found himself outpaced and Ferdinand, in turn, went on to address similar concerns from another United great.

Speaking to BT Sport about Maguire, he said: "There's [Scott] McTominay, he's your protection. All he's got to do, Maguire, is keep pushing him away.

"He hasn't got to over-commit, as soon as he over-commits... it's a great piece of skill, this pass is sublime.

"If Kevin de Bruyne does that [the assist from Weghorst] then we'd all be going crazy.

"It's about stopping it at the source, once he had the big number nine, keep him facing [away from] the goal, he's got the security of McTominay in front of him, he can deal with him a little bit, these are small mistakes leading to big moments.

"A touch across Maguire takes him completely out of it. I don't think Maguire is quick enough to have got there to affect that situation once it got beyond him."
