'Right now...' - Finance expert drops big Leeds sale claim

Finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley has claimed that Leeds United could easily be sold by owner Andrea Radrizzani if the situation was different in terms of survival in the Premier League.

Leeds United find themselves well amongst a relegation battle as they currently sit just two places above the bottom three on 29 points with just eight games to go. But they are in decent form under new manager Jesse Marsch as they have won two games on the bounce in the Premier League.

The 49ers hold a stake in the club, but Radrizzani is the majority stakeholder at Leeds and is potentially looking to sell, but how much he gets for the club is largely down to whether the club remains in the luxurious top flight.

As Leeds still have a chance of getting relegated to the Championship, whilst talking to MOT Leeds News, Plumley has claimed that staying in the Premier League is vital for Radrizzani in terms of maximising the amount of money that he could get for the club.

He said:

“He could do it today, but the challenge he’s got at the minute is basically where the club are in the league and where they might go.

“They’re a better proposition when they’re in the Premier League, so staying there is vital.

“Not just from the club’s point of view but also from his point of view. It can take £100million off the value if they’re relegated as it’s linked to TV income.

“He will view them as a better sale proposition if they stabilise in the Premier League and if you’re looking to maximise the money they make from that then that will be the way to play it.

“Right now, anybody taking over the club is also thinking the same thing. They don’t want to pay over the odds if they’re going to get relegated.”
