Ricky Hatton issues Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua prediction after fight update

Ricky Hatton has predicted Tyson Fury to beat Anthony Joshua should the two face each other later this year.

The Gypsy King and Joshua remain in talks with the two camps speaking over the last 72 hours. Fury had initially looked to face Oleksandr Usyk, however he will be out of action until 2023.

News emerged earlier this week that Joshua has reportedly accepted Fury's offer for a fight with the WBC and Linear heavyweight titles on the line before the end of 2022, with Fury revealing that he had offered Joshua a 60:40 split for their proposed 'Battle of Britain' fight - a bout which is long overdue with the two going back and forth for the better part of six years.

And with fight talks ramping up amid updates from promoters Frank Warren and Eddie Hearn, Manchester boxing legend Hatton has given his prediction of how he believes would be victorious should the two meet.

Speaking to Boxing Social, Hatton said: "I think Tyson, and I think most people would say Tyson. And that’s not to say AJ has not got a chance, because Tyson – he’ll forgive me for saying – he’s been on his backside a few times against Wilder and a few others. So you never know what can happen and when you’re hit with AJ, you know.

"AJ’s lost twice now to Usyk and I think he could go into that fight with a lot of pressure off. Legacy cemented – two-time Heavyweight Champion of the World, Olympic Gold Medallist. He’s coming off two defeats so everyone’s obviously going to think Tyson gonna’ be the favourite, so he could go into that fight nice and relaxed, confident, nothing to lose. You never know, he could surprise us.
