Ricky Hatton funeral - live updates as thousands line streets for huge farewell
Thousands of people are set to line the streets of Greater Manchester today to say a final farewell to boxing icon Ricky Hatton following his tragic death last month.
The funeral of the Manchester boxing legend, who died on September 14 aged 46, is taking place today, with a memorial service to be held at Manchester Cathedral at midday.
The cortège will make a two-hour journey from Tameside to Manchester city centre, spanning more than 15 miles, and passing several important spots in Ricky's life and career.
See the full procession route details here.
The procession's first stop will be one of his local pubs, The Cheshire Cheese in Gee Cross, at around 9.45am. It will then head to the Harehill Tavern, in Hattersley, where Ricky grew up.
After there, it will go to the former New Inn pub, on Mottram New Road, which Ricky's parents once ran and where they built him a boxing gym in the basement. Here, there will be a dove release.
It will then pass through Hyde town centre, pausing at the gym he founded, now called Energie Fitness Hyde Ricky Hatton. It will then pass Hyde town hall before heading to Denton, passing Betta Bodies gym, where Ricky often trained, along Hyde Road and into the city centre.
Following the Manchester Cathedral service, the cortège will leave at around 1.15pm with Ricky making one final trip to the Etihad Stadium.
