Ricky Gervais says 'we already miss her terribly' as he announces heartbreaking death of co-star

Ricky Gervais has announced the heartbreaking death of 'Anti' the German Shepherd, who was his canine co-star in After Life. The stunt dog, who has sadly died aged 13, starred alongside Ricky as Brandy the dog in the hit Netflix series.

The life-long stunt dog died aged 13 at her home in Bicester, Oxfordshire surrounded by her four-legged friends and two carers. She worked in film from one-year old to her retirement aged 11, starring in Doc Martin, Paul O'Grady's For the Love of Dogs and most notably After Life.

The comedian-turned-actor, who played Tony in the comedy-drama series, took to his social media share the news with his fans. The joint post wrote: "Vislor Antilly, After Life's Brandy, has sadly passed away. We already miss her terribly. Sleep well xxx."

Also announcing the news to his followers on X, formerly Twitter, alongside a picture of himself and Anti, Ricky wrote: "Sad News. 'Anti', who played 'Brandy' in AfterLife, has died. She was 13 and a very good girl," alongside a crying face emoji.

Fans soon rushed to pay tribute to the gorgeous dog as they reminisced on the emotional series. One wrote: "I’ve never cried as much as when Brandy barked when Tony was about to top himself. Clever doggy. Bestest girl. What a celebration of your life."

Another commented: "Rest in peace angel. thank you for you acting service," as one said: "Beautiful soul, Paul O’Grady will look after you," and a third echoed: "Rest in Peace, Alll Dogs go to Heaven. My Condolences to the Family."
