Richards: TAA ‘would be dreaming about emulating’ Man Utd star

Micah Richards believes Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold will be “dreaming about emulating” the trophy haul of Man Utd legend Ryan Giggs.

The right-back has been a key player for Liverpool since the start of the 2017/18 campaign.

Alexander-Arnold has already played over 200 times for his boyhood club. He has won the Premier League, Champions League and Carabao Cup so far.

The Englishman would have arguably won more trophies had it not been for Man City’s brilliance.

Pep Guardiola’s men are currently six points clear at the top of the table. Liverpool have a game in hand and the rivals face off at the Etihad next month.

Richards has suggested that Alexander-Arnold would have been looking to emulate Giggs’ achievements:

“Trent Alexander-Arnold would be dreaming about emulating Ryan Giggs and having a career in which his championship medals could go into double figures. Trent, it seems, is going to stay at Anfield for life. He’s 23 and has one title. Without City, he would be on his way to his fourth,” Richards wrote for the Daily Mail.

“Historically, it has always been about Liverpool and Manchester United but what is extraordinary is how this new rivalry has developed. Nobody would have seen it happening seven years ago, given where Liverpool were when Klopp was appointed.
