Ricciardo explains ‘strange’ Monaco practice crash

Daniel Ricciardo explained his crash in FP2 for the Monaco Grand Prix was “a little strange” given the circumstances of how it happened.

The McLaren driver suffered understeer going through Tabac corner and as his car corrected heading into the Swimming Pool section, the rear end stepped out and his MCL36 appeared to bottom out during the change of direction as he then slid towards the barrier.

“I was very, I mean, it obviously happens quickly,” Ricciardo told reporters after practice. “But I kind of slowed down as well.

Radio: “Daniel, is the car okay?"

Radio: “Glad you're OK, we'll fix the car, don't panic.”
