Rhian Brewster injury update as striker reveals his big Sheffield United aim

Rhian Brewster is hoping he can return in even better form than the one he was in at the time of his injury. The striker was ruled out for the season after injuring his hamstring in the 2-0 win at Peterborough in January, but is now starting to step up his recovery.

Having been on crutches for a number of weeks, the 22-year-old is now walking freely and is part of a rehabilitation group in the gym that also includes David McGoldrick and Jayden Bogle. The injury at London Road was a huge blow, not just for the club in their push for promotion, but for the striker as well, who was enjoying his best form in a Sheffield United shirt.

He had only just returned to action following a six-week lay-off with a similar issue, but he was showing real signs of promise with three goals in seven appearances. He was one of the players who had benefited the most from the change in management, with Paul Heckingbottom putting more focus on his positioning through the middle and more delivery from wide areas.

He was looking sharp and clinical before being struck down with a season-ending injury. However, he is working hard to come back stronger than ever and says he hopes to pick up where he left off when he does eventually return to action.

"I'm back walking," he told the club's official social media channels. "I'm back stepping it up in the gym.

"Didzy (David McGoldrick) is like our dad, you have me and Bogz (Jayden Bogle) and Didzy is like our father figure in the rehab system. It's good to have people with you when you are having a bad day to lift you up.

"It's not good to be injured but it's good to have each other's back. When you are by yourself it's harder because you have no one to be there with you.
