Rhasidat Adeleke concludes season with third spot in Brussels after Salwa Eid Naser infringement

Rhasidat Adeleke finished her season with a third place finish in the Diamond League event in Brussels after Bahrain's Salwa Eid Naser was disqualified for a lane infringement.

Adeleke clocked a time of 50.96, well outside her national record, to come home in fourth on a chilly night in the Belgian capital.

Olympic champion Marileidy Paulino powered into the lead around the final bend to win in a time of 49.45, ahead of USA's Alexis Holmes, who ran an impressive final straight to clock a time of 50.32.

Naser, who took silver in Paris, finished third but was subsequently disqualified for a lane infringement, meaning that Adeleke was bumped up to third and collected €6,300 in prize money.

The 22-year old concludes her tumultuous 2024 season, having finished fourth in two Olympic finals, collected one gold (4x400m mixed relay) and two silvers (400m and 4x400 women's relay) at the European championships and having set a glut of new national records.
