Rhasidat Adeleke and team-mates scorch to 4x200m relay victory
Rhasidat Adeleke carried her breathtaking indoor form into her outdoor debut in 2024, with the Dubliner and three of her training partners running under the world record mark in the 4x200m relay at the Texas Relays meeting in Austin on Saturday.
Adeleke ran the second leg, with the 21-year-old and her fellow Edrick Floreal-trained athletes Julien Alfred, Lanae Thomas and Dina Asher-Smith clocking one minute 27.05 seconds.
However, that time won't appear in the record books due to the competitors' different nationalities, and the 1:27.46 recorded by a US team at the Penn Relays in 2000 remains the world record.
Adeleke missed the World Indoors in Glasgow at the start of the month with a minor ankle injury, but has clearly recovered her form quickly as she builds up to June's European Championships in Rome, with her ultimate goal a podium place at the Olympic Games in Paris over her optimal distance of 400m.
