“Revitalised under Johnnie Jackson” – Charlton Athletic fan pundit heaps praise on 25-y/o

Charlton Athletic have improved considerably under the guidance of Johnnie Jackson, with the team now sitting in a mid-table position.

Whilst it still makes for a disappointing campaign on the whole, it’s clear that things are on an upward trend with the former player, who succeeded Nigel Adkins as boss earlier in the season.

As is often the case, that change in management has opened the door for some players who weren’t involved as much to be given a chance.

And, one individual who has really benefited from Jackson’s appointment is Sean Clare. The former Hearts man has been a regular for the Addicks for some time now, even in an unfamiliar defensive role, which he seems to suit.

He has certainly impressed the support as well, with FLW fan pundit Ben Fleming full of praise for how the 25-year-old has performed this season.

“I think that Sean Clare has been someone that has really had his Charlton career revitalised under Johnnie Jackson. He came in and played in-and-out of the team under Nigel Adkins and didn’t really find a place, didn’t really have regular game time.

“But since he’s come in, and with the injuries to Lavelle and Innis, he’s really made that right centre-back position his own. Often, we’ve got Jaiyesimi or Leko down that right wing-back position and they normally bomb on a bit.

“So, he’s not only got extra defensive responsibilities in terms of covering for them, but he’s also got fantastic anticipation for someone who has not played at centre-back for his whole career. He also has great
