Report: Embiid to warm up, intends to play in Game 3

Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid will warm up with the intention of playing in Friday's Game 3 against the Miami Heat, reports Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.

Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid will warm up momentarily with the intention of returning tonight in Game 3 against the Miami Heat, league sources tell @NBAonTNT, @YahooSports.

Embiid was injured late in the 76ers' series-clinching victory over the Raptors in the opening round, taking an elbow to the face from Toronto's Pascal Siakam and suffering a facial fracture and concussion.

The 28-year-old missed Games 1 and 2 of the Sixers' second-round series against the Heat. He cleared NBA concussion protocols and was upgraded to doubtful earlier on Friday.

Embiid participated in shootaround Friday morning and head coach Doc Rivers previously told reporters there would be no minutes restriction on the star centre should he be able to play.

The 76ers have dropped the opening two games of the series as things shift back to Philly for Game 3.
