Renowned sportscaster Robert Marawa joins Primedia 947 in 'historic' move

The listeners of Primedia's 947 will soon be able to hear the voice of sportscaster, media personality and author Robert Marawa.

Primedia Broadcasting CEO Lindile Xoko signed an exclusive deal with Robert Marawa for his sports show, Marawa Sports Worldwide.

Starting from 1 February, listeners will be able to hear the legendary Marawa from Monday to Friday from 6 pm to 7 pm. Marawa Sports Worldwide will also be available for listeners on SowetanLIVE, Vuma FM and Rise FM.

Xoko was delighted at the partnership as Marawa is recognised worldwide, having interviewed stars such as Sepp Blatter, Usain Bolt and Andile Jali.

"I am delighted that Primedia has joined forces with Robert Marawa, who is recognised worldwide as a sports authority and is a respected broadcaster," said Xoko.

"The massive reach that 947 audiences deliver to our clients is now complemented by us hosting Robert's premier sports show.

Marawa was delighted at the announcement, describing it as the "best" moment in his career in an interview with Primedia.

"My move to Primedia is both historic and exciting in creating a wider reach for all MSW fans, especially for our Gauteng residents, who have been complaining about being left out," Marawa said.

"I'm grateful to both Arena and Primedia for seeing things in a futuristic manner by creating what will now be four unique platforms, thus creating radio history with this unparalleled simulcast offering.
