‘Reminds me of Mbappe’ - Mario Kempes praises ‘incredible’ Man United star Alejandro Garnacho

Argentina legend Mario Kempes has likened Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho to Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe and questioned why he wasn't taken to the World Cup.

Garnacho has not played for United since suffering an ankle injury in March’s goalless draw with Southampton is yet to return to team training. The setback meant he missed out on a possible first senior Argentina cap after being called up to the squad for last month’s internationals.

Kempes has been tracking the progress of the youngster and is mightily impressed, it seems. The 1978 World Cup winner and top scorer said the attacker remind him of France icon Mbappe.

Speaking on D Sports Radio he revealed his bemusement of why Garnacho was not taken to Qatar in December by boss Lionel Scaloni. He said: "Garnacho has an incredible category and personality. He reminds me of Mbappe. I don't know why he didn't go to the World Cup."

Madrid-born Garnacho has been called up to the Argentina senior squad twice but is yet to make his debut.
