Referees will no longer offer TV analysis on new rules
Inter-county GAA referees will no longer be permitted to provide broadcast co-commentary or analysis around the new Gaelic football playing rules.
As first reported in the Irish Independent, TG4 has been informed that members of the current refereeing panel will not partake in live coverage of games.
David Gough, David Coldrick and Joe McQuillan had all provided some insight to viewers on the new rules over the opening two rounds of the Allianz Football League. The practice will no longer continue after a directive from Croke Park.
Gaelic football is much changed at inter-county and club level this year after the GAA's Special Congress gave backing to the rule changes proposed by Jim Gavin's Football Review Committee before Christmas.
The rules came into full effect at inter-county level for the start of the league.
