Reece Prestedge to remain in charge of Margate next season alongside player-assistant manager Ben Greenhalgh and coach Elliot Leveson after they maintain their Isthmian Premier status

Isthmian Premier Margate have confirmed Reece Prestedge will remain as their manager next season.

Prestedge took over at Hartsdown Park alongside player-assistant Ben Greenhalgh after the Boxing Day departure of Andy Drury, being given the role permanently until the end of the campaign in late January.

Having ensured the club have maintained their Step 3 status, Prestedge and Greenhalgh - as well as first-team coach Elliot Leveson - will continue to lead Gate next term.

“Reece and Ben deserve this chance to manage this football club long term,” said Margate director Dan Winsbury of the appointment, which was announced after Easter Monday’s 1-0 home loss to Kent rivals Folkestone.

“They have both worked tirelessly to ensure we stay in this division, which we have now achieved.

“They have also improved the dressing room atmosphere and shown competence in their recruitment so far.

“We, as a board of directors, look forward to seeing them progress the club further and us continuing to improve, both on and off the pitch.”

Margate, who are 17th in the table, are at Billericay this Saturday before their Kent Senior Cup home Semi-Final against rivals Ramsgate on Tuesday.

They will then end their 2022/23 league season at home to Potters Bar.

Gate have also agreed to groundshare with Canterbury City at Hartsdown Park from next season.
