Red Bull boss hints at DRS changes for Monaco

Red Bull driver Max Verstappen has turned his season around after initially struggling to overcome a big points deficit to Ferrari's Charles Leclerc to take the lead of the 2022 drivers' world championship.

In an interview after the last race in Barcelona, Red Bull's Helmut Marko said: "After his second retirement, you all said it was over for us.

"But I said back then that we still had plenty of races to go and we would hit back."

In Spain, Red Bull claimed a one-two with Verstappen winning followed by teammate Sergio Perez for a points bonus, while Ferrari claimed a fourth place via Carlo Sainz and a DNF by Leclerc.

Despite the positive showing in Spain, Red Bull also had problems on Sunday with their misbehaving DRS throughout the weekend, due to a new and lighter DRS mechanism that wasn't up and running on Sergio Perez's sister car.

"At this rate of development, you can never build everything for two cars at first," Marko said.

"When you have a weight, you have to start making parts lighter and we reached a limit. Then the parts bend or no longer have the rigidity.

"So that's a tightrope walk," Marko added. "We're going to be safer" (for the next race in Monaco).

"Two kilos more or less doesn't make the difference in Monte Carlo," Marko said.
