"Recipe for disaster again" - Journalist drops major Lampard claim before huge Everton clash

Everton are facing up to ‘a recipe for disaster’ if Frank Lampard’s side adopt a high line and do not relax when in possession against Burnley tonight, according to Daily Star journalist Paul Brown.

The Toffees are heading to Turf Moor for what could be a season-defining fixture, with the Merseyside outfit currently sitting just two places above their hosts and three points clear of the Premier League’s dreaded relegation zone.

Lampard was drafted in as Everton’s manager on deadline day of the January transfer window, with the former Chelsea chief replacing the sacked Rafa Benitez.

The 43-year-old was tasked with guiding the Toffees away from the bottom three, but his appointment has not had the desired effect as Lampard has enjoyed just two top flight victories since being handed the reins.

Everton’s trip to Burnley, who will also be desperate to collect all three points to boost their own survival bid, comes after another setback in the form of a 2-1 defeat at West Ham United on Sunday.

The reverse saw Lampard become the first Toffees boss in Premier League history to lose his first four away matches in charge.

However, Lampard was keen to remain upbeat after the narrow loss and insisted he remains confident that relegation can be staved off despite needing to show ‘more quality’ in order to secure positive results between now and the end of the season.

Brown believes Everton will fail to return from Burnley with any points if they adopt similar tactics to those used by Lampard and his players in recent weeks.

The journalist feels the Toffees need to be more relaxed when in possession and also sit deeper in the defensive end of the pitch.
