RECAP: Long M60 delays as emergency services responded to vehicle fire

Long delays are building on a stretch of the M60 this morning after a vehicle fire.

Two lanes are currently closed on the anticlockwise carriageway between junction 13 for Worsley and junction 12 for the M602, according to National Highways. Emergency crews are on the scene.

Long queues are building, with traffic currently queuing for around four miles. Traffic is also reportedly slow on the clockwise side past the scene.

In a post on X, National Highways said: "NEW INCIDENT #M60 anti-clockwise between J13 #Worsley and J12 #M62 #M602 #Manchester LANES CLOSED 2 lanes (of 4) closed due to a vehicle fire. 30 min delay and 4 miles of congestion. @manchesterfire @NWmwaypolice and our officers are on scene."

Two lanes have been reopened - one lane now remains shut from J13 to J12 anti-clockwise.

National Highways said fire crews have put out the blaze.

There are still delays of around 45 minutes with five-mile queues.

Three lanes of four are now shut on the M60 anti-clockwise from J13 to J12.
