Reason Nottingham Forest deadline day exit fell through revealed

Nottingham Forest centre back Tobias Figueiredo missed out on a deadline day exit from the City Ground, due to a late submission of paperwork from the Championship club.

That’s according to a report from Portuguese outlet O Jogo, who say that the 27-year-old has been set to complete a move to Vitoria Guimaraes.

With less than a week remaining in the window, reports from elsewhere in Figeuiredo’s home country had claimed that the defender had been set to sign for Vitoria on loan until the end of the season.

Now though, it appears that the nature of the deal could have been rather different, had Forest completed their side of the business in time.

According to this latest update, Figueiredo had been set to join Vitoria on an 18-month deal, after seeing his contract with Forest terminated.

Figueiredo’s contract at the City Ground is set to expire at the end of this season, and although the centre back has made 19 appearances during the current campaign, he has not featured since Boxing Day.

Even so, with Figueiredo now down the pecking order, and Forest having strengthened defensively this month, you imagine he will still be on his way from the club at the end of this
