Reading FC casting eyes over former Tottenham player

Reading are keeping tabs on youngster Michael Craig, having brought the former Tottenham man to the club on a trial basis as reported by journalist Benjy Nurick.

The 18-year-old has been on the hunt for a fresh team, having found himself without a club following his release from Spurs. That release comes despite featuring for the side in their EFL Trophy games (on two occasions) and playing frequently throughout their academy.

In fact, he was a regular for their Under-18 team in 2020/21, playing 19 times and then ended up featuring for the Premier League outfit in the Premier League 2 competition nine times.

Even though he played such a part throughout their academy, the top flight outfit have already decided to cut ties with the player and let him find somewhere else to get gametime. It did look like he might be off to Southampton and would be staying in the top tier but that too has not come to fruition.

Now, the player has ended up further down the football pyramid in pursuit of a new team to play for. That has landed him on the doorstep of Reading, with Benjy Nurick reporting that he featured for the Royals reserve side in a game that took place last night.

He hasn’t signed any official deal yet and might not do either, with the youngster only linking up with the club currently on a trial basis. If Reading like what they see though, then they could certainly snap him up and would be able to land him for nothing considering he is currently a free agent.

Michael Craig isn’t a name many will be familiar with and unless you have happened to catch him in action for the Spurs reserve side or on trial at Southampton, then you probably won’t know what he is like either.
