Reaction to one Manchester United player vs ASEAN All-Stars shows what has changed

Manchester United lost 1-0 against ASEAN All-Stars in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

There are concerns over the heavy workload players face in modern-day football, but United arranged post-season friendlies against ASEAN All-Stars and Hong Kong, a trip expected to make the club around £10million.

United played their first friendly of the post-season tour at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium, with Maung Maung Lwin's second-half strike handing ASEAN All-Stars a 1-0 win.

Maguire a popular figure

Harry Maguire was cheered every time he touched the ball. It wasn't that long ago that Maguire was booed on trips to Melbourne, Las Vegas and Dublin, so he'll no doubt have appreciated the huge cheers on Wednesday.

The booing of him was unacceptable, regardless of his form, and Maguire deserved the cheers he received on Wednesday. He has enjoyed one of his best seasons on an individual basis at United.

Mainoo with the armband

Ruben Amorim made four changes just after the half-hour mark, which wasn't a surprise given the humid conditions and the timing of this tour, with Maguire one of those to be replaced. Young defender Dan Armer came on in his place.

Maguire wore the armband from the start against ASEAN All-stars because Bruno Fernandes was named on the bench, and he handed the captain's armband to Mainoo before walking off.
