Ranking Man City's hectic April fixtures in order of importance

Every single game between now and the end of the season is vital for Manchester City and what they want to achieve.

After a mixed start to the campaign, Pep Guardiola’s side — courtesy of 12 consecutive wins between November and late January — have dragged themselves within 15 games of a potential treble. Fighting on all three fronts, it’s near-impossible to rank the importance of the games in a hectic April, but Guardiola may look at certain games to go completely full strength, and others to rotate in some fringe players.

The eight games currently scheduled for next month will be season-defining and there are some tasty fixtures for supporters to get excited about. This list, of course, leaves out the possibility of City competing in the Champions League semi-finals. That venture would be right at the top of the list if the Blues were to progress to that stage.

So, here’s a list of what City – and maybe Guardiola – may be prioritising:

1. City vs Liverpool – April 10th (H) (PL)

This is the obvious one. City’s meeting with Liverpool in just under two weeks’ time is potentially one of the most important Premier League games ever. Both teams can still drop multiple points after this meeting, but the psychological boost and blow this could have on the respective teams is huge.

If the Blues beat Burnley and Liverpool beat Watford this weekend, Guardiola’s side will go into the clash top of the Premier League table by a singular point.

Both sets of fans will remember the intense clash at the same venue in 2018/19 — this one is even bigger.
