Ranji Trophy: Siddesh Lad, Angkrish Raghuvanshi Fifties Power Mumbai To 9-Wicket Win Over Services
Siddesh Lad and Angkrish Raghuvanshi made prudent fifties as Mumbai registered a facile nine-wicket win over Services on the fourth and final day of their Ranji Trophy Elite Group A match in New Delhi on Saturday. Mumbai, resuming from overnight 24 for one, breezed past the target of 135 in 35.4 overs. Lad (73 not out, 93b, 8x4, 2x6) and Raghuvanshi (55 not out, 114b, 6x4) milked 128 runs for the unbroken second wicket stand as Mumbai ended up at 137 for one at Palam ground. The victory enabled Mumbai to maintain their third sport in the group with 22 points, behind Baroda (27) and Jammu and Kashmir (23) after five rounds.
Services stayed put on the fifth slot with 13 points.
The next round of Ranji Trophy will begin from January 23, 2025 after finishing the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy white ball tournaments.
Gujarat pulls off thrilling draw after 3 centurions put Vidarbha on top
Gujarat managed to log home a point despite Vidarbha being put on top by three centurions in a group B Ranji Trophy match on Friday.
Against the visitors' 343 in the first innings, the hosts managed to put on a commanding total of 545-9, with tons from Danish Malewar (115), Karun Nair (123) and skipper Akshay Wadkar (114 not out).
It was Vidarbha that resumed Day 4 at the overnight score of 512-8, with Wadkar unbeaten on 104, along with Praful Hinge on 26.
After adding 21 runs to the day, Hinge was knocked over for 40 by Arzan Nagwaswalla before the hosts declared 12 runs later, possessing a lead of 202.
Tejas Patel grasped three wickets for the visitors in this innings, supported by Nagwaswalla and Siddharth Desai, who held a couple each.
As Gujarat came out to bat for its second innings, it did not have the best of starts
